I am in a little Spanish town I’ve not heard of before and it’s the night of the grand carnival (an official at the town’s civic offices tells me). Similar festivities are taking place up and down the coast, each town seems to be in the carnival spirit. To be honest though early March may be a little too soon for a carnival, the night air along the eastern Iberian coast is still chilly. To their credit the whole town seems to get involved. There are more feather head dresses than you can imagine, pirates, golden shoes and gladiators. Tigers, unicorns, and cows and as it’s Spain, you get that Latin flavour that is authentic. If you can’t afford South America then Spain is pretty much your best bet! Here’s some photos from the evening.
